This project focuses on the design of seasonal apparel for Palabra Para México, a missionary organization, where I created a series of T-shirt concepts worn by all participants on each mission trip. I translated themed scriptural content into clear visual systems by refining messaging, establishing typographic hierarchy, and intentionally crafting bold, highly eye-catching compositions designed to draw attention and initiate conversation. The primary objective was to ensure each design could act as a visual entry point for outreach, prompting engagement through curiosity and readability. The work demonstrates my ability to transform text-driven content into striking, purposeful designs that function as a unified group identity and an active communication tool.

Defining an Unseen System
The core challenge was the absence of a defined identity for the missions organization, limiting its ability to communicate and operate cohesively across different trips. Teams were traveling throughout cities, moving through towns, marketplaces, and crowded public spaces without a clear visual identifier that allowed residents to quickly recognize them as a unified group serving the community.
Each trip had a distinct goal, but without a consistent framework, there was no continuity or recognizable presence. The problem was to create an identity that could adapt to each trip while remaining cohesive, highly visible, attention-grabbing, and capable of initiating conversation. Without this, the organization lacked an effective visual tool to support recognition, engagement, and outreach in the environments where it mattered most.

Concept Development
This project began with rapid sketching to explore symbolic forms that could translate scriptural themes into clear, wearable visuals. The goal was to create graphics that read immediately at a distance while holding deeper meaning up close. Each concept was reduced to essential shapes with strong contrast and deliberate composition to ensure legibility and impact on fabric.

The Results
The final designs translate the initial concepts into a cohesive series of apparel systems that are both adaptable and immediately recognizable. Each piece balances bold composition, clear hierarchy, and strong visual contrast to ensure readability and impact across varied environments. While each trip’s design reflects its specific theme and message, the system as a whole maintains a consistent identity that unifies all participants under a single visual language.

The Impact
The effectiveness of the system is reflected in its real-world performance. Teams reported that the designs maintained high visibility even from long distances, supporting recognition in crowded public spaces. Participants continue to wear the shirts beyond the duration of the trips, extending their function and reach. Most importantly, the organization now operates with a clear and cohesive identity, demonstrating that the primary goals of visibility, adaptability, and recognition were successfully achieved.
